1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
Hebrews 12:1-3 ESV
HOW DO I LOOK UNTO JESUS?
1. Look Away From Self
As humans, our tendency is to focus on ourselves. Satan capitalizes on that weakness. He wants us to focus on our limitations, our weaknesses, our sins, our cares, our failures, and even our victories. He will do everything to blur our vision away from Jesus and look at other things. He is the master of distraction.
2. Fix Your Eyes on Jesus
He founded and perfects our faith. He is the leader and the source of our faith. He birthed faith within us. He is our champion who initiates our faith. He is the pioneer – He began the race we are in. He is the perfecter of our faith. he is the finisher of our faith.
